Why is it that men such as Barry White and hip hop artist Rick Ross can portray the image of a heavily set man but still attract the women wanted by all men? The easy answer for Rick Ross is that he throws money and a lavish lifestyle at women and attracts them. Did Barry White do it with his seductive voice or was there something behind the way he treated women? When was the last time an overweight woman was pictured with men crawling all over her? Just a question to think about.

This is a really interesting point. Me and my girl friends always talk about why it is acceptable for men to be overweight not only in the media but in everyday life as well. I have many friends who will go out with a guy who is overweight or larger because they are a gentile-man or because they are funny or other traits that make them more attractive. I feel like men aren't for the most part looking for relationships right away where as women are. This is why women look past the physical more so than men because they are looking for a companion. I'm not sure if this is true, just some of my thoughts!!
ReplyDeleteI think of this as the sit-com issue: think of all the family shows like King of Queens or The Simpsons or on and on and on...we get a lot of families pictured with an overweight husband and thin wife, but not the other way around.
